In 2004, Marie Abijuru, an immigrant from Rwanda, moved to the United States with her three young children, unsure of how she was going to feed, clothe, and educate them. Coming from a French-speaking country, she faced overwhelming challenges adapting to life in America while also providing for her children.
Without a financial contingency plan, she struggled to pay her bills, often unable to save even a dollar at the end of the month. After years of hardship, she eventually found meaningful work as a social worker, helping families facing difficulties due to lack of income, illness, domestic violence, and more.
This new chapter changed her perspective on America. She observed that many families had no contingency or rainy-dayfunds. She could relate to their fears and daily frustrations, which opened her eyes to the importance of financial preparedness. For years, she had lived in fear of the unknown.
In 2022, she met an "angel" at the African Fufu Night in Salem, Oregon. This woman spoke about fighting financial fires, and Marie felt inspired. She wanted to learn from her about achieving financial independence.
Through her learning journey, Marie became a licensed financial professional. This transformed not only her relationship with money but also her relationship with her family. Since then, she has been on a mission to share her newfound "superpower" with everyone she meets.
Marie now travels from city to city, teaching others how to design financial plans and strategies to achieve financial security without breaking the bank. Everywhere she goes, she brings knowledge—because in a knowledge economy, knowledge is the most critical tool for success. Her work continues to bring peace of mind to countless families as she strives to expand her reach and impact nationwide.
